New laws pertaining to cyclists were enacted in June 2008 in South Carolina. If you ride, here's what you need to know.
  1. Drivers must keep a safe distance between themselves and cyclists.
  2. It is illegal for a driver to "buzz" a cyclist.
  3. Drivers many not harass or taunt cyclists.
  4. It is illegal to throw objects at cyclists.
  5. Call the police immediately if any of these things happen.
  6. Make sure to get the driver's license plate number and car type.
  7. Drivers can face civil and criminal fines for violating your rights.
